25 Questions to Ask on a School Campus Visit – Future Kids Global School, Rajahmundry

Most parents walk into a school visit with one or two questions in mind, usually about fees and results. Then the tour ends, and on the way home they remember everything they forgot to ask.

This list fixes that. It gives you 25 questions in six groups, with notes on what a good answer sounds like. Print it, or save it on your phone, before you visit any school in Rajahmundry or nearby.

QUICK ANSWER

On a school visit, ask about academics (teaching methods, results, class size), safety (supervision, CCTV, visitor rules), transport (routes, attendants), boarding (supervision, food, contact), fees (full yearly cost and extras) and communication (progress updates, a named contact). Clear, specific answers are a good sign; vague ones need follow-up.

AT A GLANCE

  • Visit on a normal working day so you see real classes.

  • Ask every school the same questions so you can compare fairly.

  • Write down answers on the spot; they are easy to forget.

  • Specific numbers and names are better than adjectives.

Before you go: how to plan the visit

Call ahead and ask for a visit on a working day, during class hours. A weekend tour shows buildings, but a weekday tour shows how the school actually runs.

Take your child if they are old enough. Watch how staff speak to them. Also carry a notebook, or this list, and give yourself at least an hour.

The 25 questions, grouped by topic

You do not need to ask all 25 at every school. Pick the groups that matter most for your child's age and needs.

Topic

Questions to ask

Academics

1. Which board are you affiliated to, and what is the affiliation number? 2. How many students are in each section? 3. How do you support a child who falls behind? 4. How often are tests held, and how are mistakes reviewed? 5. Can I see last year's board results with names?

Safety

6. Who supervises children at entry, breaks and dismissal? 7. Is there CCTV, and who monitors it? 8. How are visitors checked? 9. Is there a nurse or first-aid room? 10. What happens if my child is unwell during school hours?

Transport

11. Which pickup points cover our area? 12. Is there a staff attendant on every bus? 13. How long is the longest route? 14. How are parents informed if a bus is late?

Boarding

15. Who supervises students in the hostel at night? 16. What is the daily routine, including study time? 17. How often can parents call or visit? 18. How are food and health handled?

Fees

19. What is the full yearly cost, including transport, books and uniforms? 20. Are there one-time fees at admission? 21. What is the refund policy if we withdraw?

Communication

22. How often are parent–teacher meetings held? 23. Who is my contact for daily questions? 24. How are report cards and test results shared? 25. How are complaints handled?

What a good answer sounds like

The answer matters, but so does the way it is given. Here is how to read the responses you get:

  1. Specific beats general. "A teacher and an attendant at each gate" is better than "children are very safe".

  2. Evidence beats claims. Names and marks on a results list are better than "excellent results".

  3. Written beats spoken for fees. Ask for the fee breakup on paper or by email.

  4. Open beats defensive. A school that welcomes hard questions usually has nothing to hide.

  5. Consistent beats changing. If two staff give different answers, ask again.

Also notice what you see without asking. Are classrooms busy and noisy in a good way? Are toilets clean? Are children relaxed around their teachers?

After the visit: comparing schools

Within a day, write down your impressions while they are fresh. Note one thing you liked and one thing that worried you at each school.

Then compare schools side by side using our 10-point school checklist. If fees are a deciding factor, our guide on what is included in school fees will help you compare the true yearly cost.

Frequently asked questions

What should I ask when visiting a school?

Ask about the board and affiliation, class size, how weak students are supported, safety and supervision, transport routes, the full yearly fee including extras, and how the school communicates with parents. Ask every school the same questions so your comparison is fair.

Should I take my child on a school visit?

Yes, if they are old enough to understand. Watching how teachers speak to your child, and how your child reacts to the campus, tells you a lot. For very young children, a short visit is enough.

How long should a school visit take?

Plan for about an hour. That gives time to see classrooms, labs, the library and play areas, and to sit down with the admissions team for questions without rushing.

Is it okay to ask about fees on the first visit?

Yes. Fees are an important part of the decision. Ask for the full yearly cost, including transport, books, uniforms and one-time admission charges, and request the breakup in writing.

What are warning signs during a school visit?

Watch for pressure to pay on the same day, vague answers on fees or safety, visits allowed only on holidays, and promises of guaranteed marks or ranks. Unclean toilets and unsupervised corridors are also warning signs.
