Documents Required for School Admission in Andhra Pradesh – Future Kids Global School, Rajahmundry

Few things slow down an admission more than a missing certificate. Parents in Rajahmundry and across East Godavari often find out on the day of enrolment that the school also needs a counter-signed transfer certificate or an extra set of photographs.

This checklist explains which documents schools in Andhra Pradesh usually ask for, grouped by your child's situation. Every school has its own list, so use this to prepare early and then confirm the final list with the school you choose.

QUICK ANSWER

For school admission in Andhra Pradesh you will usually need the child's birth certificate, passport-size photographs, Aadhaar (child and parents), address proof and, for older children, the previous school's transfer certificate and latest report card. Children changing state or board may need counter-signed or extra documents. Always confirm the exact list with the school.

AT A GLANCE

  • Core documents for every child: birth certificate, photographs, Aadhaar and address proof.

  • Children moving from another school need a transfer certificate (TC) and the latest report card.

  • Moving from another state or board may need a counter-signed TC or other attestation.

  • Keep originals plus two sets of self-attested photocopies ready.

  • Each school sets its own final list, so confirm before the enrolment day.

Which documents does every school ask for?

Whatever the class or board, most schools begin with the same basic set. These confirm your child's identity, date of birth and address.

  1. Birth certificate issued by the municipality or gram panchayat. This is the main proof of age.

  2. Recent passport-size photographs of the child, and often of the parents too. Carry four to six.

  3. Aadhaar card of the child, if available, and of both parents.

  4. Address proof, such as a ration card, electricity bill, rental agreement or Aadhaar.

  5. Completed application form, signed by the parent or guardian.

  6. Medical or immunisation record, especially for preschool and primary classes.

Some schools also ask for a caste or community certificate where it applies, or a parent's ID card. Ask early so that you are not hunting for a certificate in the last week.

Document checklist by situation

The extra documents depend on where your child is coming from. Use this table as a starting point.

Situation

Usually needed (in addition to core documents)

Tip

New admission to Pre-KG, LKG or UKG

Birth certificate, immunisation card, parents' ID

Age rules decide the class, so check the age cut-off first

Class 1 from a preschool

Birth certificate; preschool report or leaving letter if available

Not all schools insist on a preschool TC; ask

Transfer within Andhra Pradesh

Transfer certificate (TC), latest report card or progress card

Request the TC as soon as you confirm the new school

Transfer from another state

TC, report card; some schools ask for a counter-signed TC

Ask the old school how long counter-signing takes

Change of board (State, CBSE to ICSE)

TC, report cards of the last one or two years

The new school may also assess the child's level

Joining Class 11 (ISC)

Class 10 marks memo or provisional result, migration certificate if from another board, TC

Carry the provisional result if the final memo is not yet issued

Returning from abroad

Previous school records, equivalence or attestation if requested, passport copy

Start early, as attestations take weeks

Rules on counter-signed TCs, migration certificates and equivalence differ by board and change from time to time. Check the receiving school's requirement and, for board-level rules, the official board notice such as the one on cisce.org.

How to get the transfer certificate without delays

The transfer certificate is the document that most often causes delays. The old school usually issues it only after fees and library books are cleared.

  • Inform the current school in writing as soon as the new admission is confirmed.

  • Clear any pending fees, transport dues and library books first.

  • Check that the child's name, date of birth and class on the TC match the birth certificate exactly.

  • Ask whether the TC needs a counter-signature from an education officer if you are moving state.

  • Collect the latest report card along with the TC, as many schools ask for both.

Common mistakes that hold up admission

  • Spelling mismatches. The child's name is spelt differently on the birth certificate, Aadhaar and TC. Fix this before you apply.

  • Only originals. Schools keep photocopies, so carry self-attested copies along with the originals.

  • Old photographs. Use recent photos with a plain background.

  • Missing parent ID. Both parents' IDs are often requested, not just one.

  • Waiting for results. For Class 11, apply with the provisional result instead of waiting for the final memo.

Frequently asked questions

What documents are required for school admission in Andhra Pradesh?

Most schools ask for the child's birth certificate, passport-size photographs, Aadhaar of the child and parents, and address proof. Children moving from another school also need a transfer certificate and the latest report card. Confirm the exact list with the school.

Is a transfer certificate required for LKG or UKG admission?

Usually not for a child's first school. If your child is moving from one preschool to another, some schools may ask for a leaving letter or report. The birth certificate is the main document at this stage.

Is Aadhaar mandatory for school admission?

Many schools ask for the child's Aadhaar because it is used in student records. If your child does not have one yet, ask the school what alternative ID it accepts and apply for Aadhaar early.

Do I need a counter-signed TC when moving from another state?

Some schools and boards ask for it, others do not. Ask the new school first, then check with the old school how long counter-signing takes, so the admission is not delayed.

What documents are needed for ISC Class 11 admission?

Usually the Class 10 marks memo or provisional result, the transfer certificate, a migration certificate if your child studied in another board, photographs and ID. At FKGS, please confirm the list with the admissions office.
